We're deliverying the fourth perfect edition, "The Mysterious Cap" and "Phantom Hourglass".
We first saw this Toon Link (at the time we called him cat-eye Link) at the Nintendo Space World "Wind Baton" presentation. What jumped out before the audience, waiting for a continuation of "Ocarina of Time" with the cool adult Link to come, was a chibi with big dark eyes Link.
Everyone there gasped for an instant.
At the time we were astonished and thought, "This came!?" at that presentation.
But we saw lines of the good old days of animation in his easy movements.
Like the Toei manga festival anime movies we went to see when our parents took us long ago.
Our astonishment turned into excitement.
This Toon Link's modeling was simple, but we think his charm and fun appears more through "moving" him.
We think it's a design suited for animation more than manga, so it was next to impossible breathing life into these lines with "manga", but we set up each concept and developed it.
"The Mysterious Cap" is a fairy tale. "Phantom Hourglass" is a first try in our Zelda mangas: "Comical (gag)". They're an age-difference combination.
We were especially able to enjoy drawing Link's partner Lineback's "old man pathos".
We hope you look forward to it!
完全版４巻は「ふしぎのぼうし」と「夢幻の砂時計」をお届けします。
初めてこのトゥーンリンク（当時は猫目リンクと呼んでました）を見たのは任天堂スペースワールドでの『風のタクト』発表で、大人のカッコいいリンクで「時オカ」の続編が来ると待ち構えていた聴衆を前に飛び出して来たのは、３等身の黒目が大きいリンク。
その場にいた全員が一瞬息をのみました。
あの発表には「こう来たか！」と当時大変驚いたものです。
しかし彼の軽やかな動きに私達は古き良き時代の〈アニメーション〉のラインを見たのでした。
昔よく親に連れられ観に行った東映まんがまつりのアニメ映画のような。
驚きはワクワクに変わりました。
このトゥーンリンクは造形は単純ですが、"動かす"ことでより魅力や面白さが出るキャラクターだと思います。
それは漫画よりもアニメーションに向いているデザインだと思いますので、このラインの中に『漫画』で命を吹き込むのは中々至難でしたが、それぞれコンセプトを置いて制作しました。
「ぼうし」はメルヘン、「砂時計」はゼルダ漫画では初挑戦の"おかしさ（ギャグ）"と、年の差コンビ。
特にリンクの相棒ラインバックの"オジさんの哀愁"は楽しく描けました。

Naughty and full of adventurous spirit. He feels like a miniature "man" with lots of energy.
He has a stubborn personality that won't take no for an answer, and often plays a tug-of-war of willpower with Ezelo.
It's his dream to by Hyrule's best knight.
He goes to Tesshin-sensei's dojo.
He's courageous so he thinks he won't lose to anyone, but he's only scared of peppers.
